Rant About Clearance Plants and Shoppers That Take Sdvantage of the Clearance System


So today, I was minding my own business, making sure the plants are happy and well watered when they lady asks me about the 75% off plants in a table. I help her explain to her how we take the discount off it noting that she has her cart full of regular priced plants and her somewhat demanding attention. Afterwards, she goes inside and I just assume that she went to do some shopping and will come back later to make her purchases.

WRONG!! .__.

At the end of my shift the closer for Garden Center show up and I found out he just tried out MapleStory yesterday so we chatted for a bit. Then the security showed up because the people at the check lanes at the front have been trying to contact me half a dozen times. I had my walkie on this time (earlier, I forgot to turn it on at the beginning of the shift) so I don't understand why I didn't hear a THING. At all. Unfortunately, however, I tend to tune out the walkie if I'm helping a guest, checking someone out on the register or just chatting .__. As it turned out, the plant lady was causing a commotion by claiming ALL her plants were 75% off. And because they couldn't reach me to confirm it, they sold all the plants for 75% off. RAAAGE. It's been an hour since it happened and I'm still pretty mad because of it, mostly because there were 3 things I could've done to prevent it:

1. Call the person in charge at the front and let him know about the ONE plant that's supposed to be 75% off. Of course, silly me I just assumed that the guest would check out in Garden where I'd be able to sort out the mess. But I have a feeling that she had planned this all along (will explain at the end).

2. Hear them calling for me on the walkie - that probably would have sorted it out but since they had trouble reaching me a few hours earlier, they didn't really try, I guess .o.

3. Called the front lanes after I was notified of what's happening - pretty much the last chance I would have had to help. And of course, like a dummy, I just walked to the front to see what's up - by the time I got there, she was already long gone. .______.

And of course, if she kills the plants (on purpose) then brings them in for a refund without a reciept, she'll get a FULL refund on the plants, no the discounted price on them. And THAT'S why some of our Target shoppers are great [spoiler]scammers[/spoiler]. .o. It's too bad everything was working against me for some reason. There isn't much to complain about this now that is over in the past and I'll probably be annoyed for a while (but I'll get over it...or find something else that annoys me xD ), just I hope that I learn from my mistakes and not let it happen again. .__.
